Decode Apple device panic logs in seconds.
Panic Decode™ is an in-browser panic log decoder for repair techs. Paste, upload or photograph a panic-full log from an iPhone, iPad or Mac and get the likely faulty part and the first thing to check. Decoding runs on your device against a reference compiled from public repair-community sources.

Getting the panic log
- On the device: Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements → Analytics Data. Open the newest file starting with
panic-full(orpanic-base). - Copy it: tap the share icon → Copy, then paste below. Or AirDrop / save the
.ipsfile and upload it. - Can't copy? Take a photo of the screen with the panic text visible (zoom so the first lines and any
Missing sensor(s)/sensor arrayline are sharp). - Mac: Console → Crash Reports (
.panicfiles), or for unexpected shutdowns runlog show --predicate 'eventMessage contains "Previous shutdown cause"' --last 24h. - Compare 2+ logs. The same code repeating = real lead. Always confirm with a known-good part before replacing.
From a computer
- iMazing (Export Logs & Crash Reports) and 3uTools (Crash Analysis → export) save the device's own
panic-full-….ipsfiles. Upload them on the File tab: several at once, a whole folder, or a.zip. - Finder / iTunes sync copies the logs to
~/Library/Logs/CrashReporter/MobileDevice/<device>/(Mac) or%APPDATA%\Apple Computer\Logs\CrashReporter\MobileDevice\<device>\(Windows). The Windows Apple Devices app's log folder isn't documented, so use iMazing or 3uTools there. - sysdiagnose: upload the
.tar.gz; the panic files inside are picked out automatically. - Other export formats from these tools couldn't be confirmed, so Panic Decode reads the plain
.ips/.panic/.txtcontents.
Install the app (works offline)
iPhone / iPad: open this page in Safari → Share → Add to Home Screen. Android / Chrome / Edge: browser menu → Install app. After one visit, decoding works without a connection (photo OCR after it has been used once online).
Take photo opens the camera. Choose from library opens Photos. Text is read on your device with Tesseract OCR (downloads ~10 MB the first time).
Tip: pick the device model below first. Leave the box empty to list every known code for that model.
